Dolphin 7200 Fix for Year 2010
If the Dolphin 7200 handheld is displaying the current date & time screen, and the date shown is January 1, 2010 or higher, take the following actions to update your Dolphin 7200 program to a version that recognizes the new decade:
Go to www.coincnx.com/fix7200. (Print this web page for your records, and use it as a checklist.)
Set the date on your Dolphin 7200 to December 31, 2009. Go to "Waiting for Scan".
Download all collections. IMPORTANT! Changing version may corrupt existing collections, so do NOT upload new collections until after the new program is installed.
Determine the version number of your Dolphin 7200 program. On the wand, press F1, 4, then 5. Look for the number after "Coin ConneXion Version". (Example: 6.2.0.8)
Click on the link below that is appropriate for your version of the Dolphin 7200 program.
(The first two digits of the version number MUST match your current version.)
If your version number is not listed, call the toll-free support line (877-787-2646), leave your name, company name, telephone number, and the version number of your Dolphin 7200 program, or email the information using our contact page.
If your version number IS listed, continue with the following instructions:
Determine the drive letter where ezRoute is installed. (If you are in a remote office, see the instructions at the bottom of this page.) Copy the current files found in X:\dolphin\utils (where X: is the current drive letter) to a memory key or CD. Failure to back up your current files may put you in a situation where there is no longer a solution to your problem, in the event the update fails to install properly or is not fully compatible with your current Dolphin 7200 program.
Download the file to your computer, then open it. (Select "run" if prompted to do so). Unzip the file to install it. Be sure to select the same drive letter where ezRoute Pro is installed. If you are not certain what that drive letter should be, right-click on the ezRoute icon, click on Properties, and determine the drive letter from "start in" (the program fix uses the default drive letter C:)
Open ezRoute Pro, and go to the handheld menu for Dolphin 7200s. Under "Setup", establish the wand ID (and wand model if needed). Click on "Reload wand program".
On the handheld, press F1, 4, 3, Y (for "Yes" to over write the current program).
Press any key on the PC to begin the file transfer.
When the file transfer is finished, reboot the wand (press the three white keys simultaneously). Set the correct date and time (press F1, 4, then 2). When finished, repeatedly press ESC (shift followed by backspace) until the wand screen displays "Waiting for Scan". If that screen is displayed, the update is successful.
Dolphin 7200 programs that are five years old or less are updated at no-charge, and are found on the website. Programs older than five years must be custom built for each client, providing the handheld is updateable. (The firmware on some very old Dolphins, built prior to 2000, may not recognize dates past 2009.) Custom programs will require a minimum of one calendar day to build, and there will be a custom programming charge of $100.00.
If updates for your version are available on the website, follow the instructions precisely and you will likely not need any additional support. Support calls requesting our assistance with the installation process will be billed at normal support rates. We appreciate your patience during the updating process, as there are hundreds of 7200 handhelds still in use, and as you know, we have a small staff. Wait times may be several hours, and clients on current versions will get priority assistance.
Remote Office Updates
Copy the current files found in C:\dolphin\utils (where C: is the current drive letter) to a memory key or CD. On your PC, click on START, RUN, cmd, OK. This opens a command prompt window. At the prompt, type the following sequences:
- C: (where C is the drive letter where the \dolphin\utils folder is located.)
- cd \dolphin\utils (press enter)
- dcomm2 wandccx.exe (press enter)
On the handheld, press F1, 4, 3, Y (for "Yes" to over write the current program).
When the file transfer is finished, reboot the wand (press the three white keys simultaneously). Set the correct date and time (press F1, 4, then 2). When finished, repeatedly press ESC (shift followed by backspace) until the wand screen displays "Waiting for Scan". If that screen is displayed, the update is successful.
